The Moors’ Islamic Cultural Home (MICH), the club which legendary cueist M.J.M. Lafir represented throughout his career, will conduct the M.J.M. Lafir Pot Black Snooker Tournament at its premises in Dematagoda. The four-day tournament, which will be held from March 12 to 15 at the air conditioned billiards parlour of MICH at No.115, Dematagoda Road, Colombo 9, has already received over 100 entries from various clubs, societies and associations affiliated to the Billiards and Snooker Association of Sri Lanka.

The tournament is conducted to coincide with the 40th year anniversary of Lafir’s achievement in winning the World Billiards Championship in 1973. Further the MICH will rename its billiard room as the M.J.M. Lafir Billiard Parlour, in honour of the ‘King of the Green Baize’, who won an incredible tally of 32 titles in 20 years. – NA
