The 26-km-long Colombo-Katunayake expressway will be declared open next month, the Government announced. According to Road Development Authority officials, workers are now engaged in fixing signboards and planting trees alongside the expressway, while giving the final touches to the project.

The expressway will have three lanes on each side from Colombo to Peliyagoda, and two lanes on each side from Peliyagoda to Katunayake.

There are to be three interchanges on this expressway, and when completed, it is anticipated that the time taken to travel from Colombo to Katunayake will be 20 minutes, the report said.
