Hiring and identifying professionals for vehicle maintenance in a proper manner become a daunting task in the country at present due to mushrooming of garages and service centres in every nook and corner with unqualified persons handling vehicle repairs and maintenance services.

Maintenance requirements differ from vehicle to vehicle especially of new models and motorists are finding it difficult to identify a professional repair centre to hand over repairs and maintenance services.

In these circumstances, Motor Link Holdings (MLH) with 25 years of experience and qualifications in motor mechanism and

Rohan Silva of MLH inspecting an engine problem.

engineering has stepped into fill the void of a fit and proper vehicle maintenance services in the island, said Ravith Silva, Chief Operating Officer of the company, in an interview with the Business Times. The company operates Sri Lanka’s first and only complete mobile workshop to carry out vehicle repairs at any given place for the customer’s convenience. MLH technicians have established good relationships with customers and help them understand each step of the repair.

He noted that the company has a very good supporting team, with high integrity, ethics and professionalism in delivering the required services.

With the opening of new highways and expressways there is a need of a well organised mobile vehicle maintenance and repair service country wide and MLH is gearing up towards this end, he revealed.

The MLH mobile workshop is capable of attending to any vehicle breakdown on the spot even removing the engine and attending to it on the spot, he said, adding that vehicle maintenance is a crucial need in today’s busy life style.

“Most of us treat our vehicles like a family member and the care that needs to be given is equally imperative to satisfy customers,” he said.

Mr. Silva, who graduated from Kingston University England as an automotive design engineer, is a manufacturing engineer who served in McLaren UK and he was involved in producing the McLaren SLR, which is the world’s fastest automatic car.

He has gained more experience with Delta Controls as a project engineer in the nuclear, pharmaceutical and offshore oil rig instrumentation that is IP rated for safety; before returning to Sri Lanka to join his father Rohan Silva to take MLH to the next level.
The company provides systematic vehicle maintenance programmes commonly known as servicing, but in a more scheduled and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) approved advanced manner for all types of hybrid, petrol and diesel light vehicles (99.9 per cent of vehicles serviced elsewhere are based on just cleaning the vehicle rather than doing the servicing to a schedule as recommended by all OEM’s).

It has the facility to carry out electronic OEM engine tune-up, OEM recommended engine overhaul, 3D structural repairs for heavily damaged vehicles, high quality paint – using world class PPG paints in a hi-tech eco-friendly booth, and advanced computer/oscilloscope enabled diagnosis, mobile vehicle repairs/break down coverage, rust control and protection and all forms of running repairs. “We also do one day minor accident repairs for all modern vehicles,” he added.
