Former tea plantation worker wins car in People’s Bank’s competition

The People’s Bank Jaya Sri monthly draw held at the People’s Bank head office saw V. Karuppaiah, a former tea worker, and his son K. Prabaharan walking away with a Suzuki Alto for the month of August.

Happy with his win, Mr. Karuppaiah said, “My wife and I used to work at a tea estate. Now we have a small shop. Our family savings accounts are maintained at the People’s Bank Haputale Branch. We’ve been dealing with the People’s Bank for over 15 years now”. He said they won this prize for the current account maintained by himself and his son Mr. Prabaharan. “Even though the branch manager informed me about the Jaya Sri draw, I never thought I would win such a grand prize. I would like to say that everyone can win by saving in the People’s Bank,” he added in comments released to the media by the bank.

Monthly draws will be held throughout the year for Jaya Sri 2013 which will end with a grand draw. At the monthly draw, a Suzuki Alto Car, 24 cash prizes each worth Rs. 100,000 and 690 cash prizes each worth Rs. 10,000 can be won every month.
