Seeking to chart the progress and history of the rapidly shifting world of local and international golf, GolfPlus Monthly Sri Lanka, the country’s first magazine to place exclusive focus on the sport, last month launched an inaugural edition teeming with unique insight, clever anecdotes, helpful tips and interesting facts.

The magazine is the local arm of the firmly established GolfPlus Monthly India, which is based in Uttar Pradesh. According to its Editor A.D Sunesh, the new publication looks to replicate the popularity of its Indian incarnation by “adding value to the golfing world at a time when four Sri Lankan Pro-Golfers feature in the top 52 of the Rolex Rankings as of PGTI EAGLEBURG Open 2013 of the PGTI Tour.”

The launch publication contains a raft of informative articles, which delve deep into the game’s many diverse aspects, as well as a slew of revealing interviews with golf’s global and local players and officials.

These intriguing conversations involve personalities such as veteran Lankan administrator Ana Punchihewa and eminent international golfers Karrie Webb and Angelo Que.

GolfPlus Monthly Sri Lanka also serves as a useful training guide to its readers by briefing them on the finer points of the game such as correct stroke technique and player posture. This supplies further weight to the magazine’s worth, making it a valuable item for the enthusiastic Sri Lankan golf novice, who can save each edition for future reference.

Interwoven into this already eclectic quilt of golfing content are exquisite threads of historical detail which pull the reader through the sport’s past both in Sri Lanka and the rest of the world. This ensures that GolfPlus Monthly Sri Lanka will not only entertain and inform the ardent golf enthusiast but also the casual sports reader. – DS
