In a nail-biting baseball game which hung in the balance right through to the finals innings, the Black Hawks edged the Green Wolves 6-5 to book a place in the finals of the Sri Lanka Baseball Classic, at the Japan-Sri Lanka Baseball ground in Diyagama yesterday.

The Green Wolves, who along with the Black Hawks were the tournament’s only undefeated team, will meet the Golden Lions today in a game which will decide the competition’s other finalist. This match will be played today morning while the final is scheduled to be worked off in the evening.

The competition, an initiative of Sri Lanka Amateur Baseball and Softball Association (SLABSA) features Sri Lanka’s top 100 players, picked after the major domestic tournaments held during the year.

The six teams that were involved in the tournament were the GoldenLions, the Red Scorpions, the Blue Sharks, the Black Hawks, the White Stallions and the Green Wolves. – DS
