The Ceylon Teachers Union (CTU) claimed that more than 50 students have lodged complaints at the Examinations Dept with regard to the chaos at the Grade 5 scholarship exam this year, and the Union is looking forward to take up this matter with the Human Rights Commission.

CTU President Joseph Stalin said that, more than 50 students approached their Union to address their unjust experience at the scholarship exams, and they were directed to the Examinations Dept to hand over their complaints.

Meanwhile, Ceylon Teachers’ Services Union General Secretary, Mahinda Jayasinghe said that complaints have been made to the Examinations Dept on behalf of the Union.

“I spoke to the Commissioner of Examinations M.A. Pushpakumara on this matter, and he agreed that there have been unjust experiences faced by students at the Grade 5 scholarship examinations, which will be addressed and resolved soon,” he said.
The Grade 5 scholarship exam held on August 25 had invigilators distribute exam papers according to incorrect serial numbers.
The Commissioner of Examinations was not available for comment.
