Essay, Art, Speech competitions for CHOGM 2013

The Education Ministry has introduced Essay, Art and Speech competitions to coincide with the forthcoming CHOGM this year.
The topic for each competition is ‘Commonwealth Organisation, Development and Social Justice’ and students from the English, Sinhala and Tamil streams are encouraged to participate.
Students will participate under three age groups. They are, Grades 6-7-8, Grades 9-10-11, and Grades 11-12.
The word-count for the Essays are:
Grades 6-7-8 = 250 words, Grades 9-10-11 = 350 words and Grades 11-12 = 500 words
Three winners in each category will be selected islandwide, and awarded certificates. The winners will also be awarded scholarships from 2014 till they finish school, while the student who secures first place will be given a foreign educational tour. An exhibition will also be organised to display the winning artworks.
