With the dawn of reality shows and talent hunts on television in Sri Lanka, many young talents have emerge from the grass root level to glittering limelight in the local music scene. The dreams of becoming a popular singer or musician still a long awaited hope for some people due to lack of training and academic gap of the present music industry of Sri Lanka.

Singing and vocal training and music technology training programmes are not a distant reality for Lankn youth any more. Theevra Performing Arts Ensemble, the latest music technology and music training institute has come up with two unique programmes to train people with talents to take Sri Lankan music towards the world stage.

Vocal Technique Programme and Music Technology Course are two specialized training segments conduct by Nadika Wligodapola, a professional musician, composer, recording artist and a dancer. He is attached to the University of Sri Jayewardenepura as a Visiting Lecturer in Audio Technology.

Nadika as a course conductor has studied dancing under Ravi Bandu Vidyapathi and Malthi Somabandu.  ‘I was into dancing and music from my small days and I studied these two segments to great heights under the professional masters. I graduated in Audio and sound technology’ said Nadika. As his love always with the stage , he has composed and directed music for many musicals and stage plays including Dharmasiri Bandaranaike’s ‘Makarakshya’ and Dharmapriya Dias’ ‘Julies Cesar’ to name a few.

He also responsible for the latest musical creation of ‘Senehebara Danuddrara’ directed by Sujeeva Priyalath and choreographed by Jerome de Silva.  ‘This is a unique musical with 100% live stage performance and live music. I consider this as one of my great achievements’ Nadika said.

Under his wealth of knowledge in the subject, Nadika conducts subjects ‘Nature of Sound’, Microphones, MIDI & Audio Recording, Equalization, Sound Cards and Audio Software Training under Module 1 for two months full time. The course fee is Rs 25000/-.
Module 2 (Mixing & Mastering) includes Multi track Mixing, Mastering Audio and Industry Standards. The duration for the second leg is four weeks and the fee is Rs 15,000/-.

Vocal Technique Programme is conduct ed by Dinupa Kodagoda, vocalist and dancer by profession. She is a graduate of Performing Arts specialist – The University of Visual & Performing Arts. Dinupa started her studies under Nanda Malani and Premasiri Khemdasa. She was a part of Khemadasa’ s ‘Agni’ opera. She now studies North Indian Classical music under veteran Manjula Senevirathe at ‘Kalaboomi’.

Her area of teaching includes Breathing, Voicing Techniques, Harmonizing, Vocal Anatomy and Performing. There will be more theory classes on the subject ‘ART of the VOICE’, under the guidance of Performing Arts professionals. The admission is Rs 4000/- and the monthly fee is Rs. 2000/- Have this enormous opportunity to acquire a hands-on training as a Recording Artist from Basic Audio Theories to Professional Studio Recording Techniques.
