the first-ever century for the British School in Colombo during their Under-13 tournament match against I-Gate College Thalawathugoda, worked off at the President’s College ground in Rajagiriya.

The elegant 10-year-old left-hander smashed 108 runs from just 80 deliveries in this 30-over-per-side encounter as he brought his overall aggregate to over four hundred runs in the Under-13 tournament.

Rahul was born in Colombo to Indian parents and learnt the basics of the game in Grade Four under the guidance of Aruna Batapolarachchi, the Head Coach of the British School in Colombo.

He also displayed his excellent wicketkeeping capabilities when he held on to five victims behind the stumps in another Under-13 game against Devapathiraja College played at Rathgama.

Rahul also had the satisfaction of winning the Best Fielder and the Man-of-the-Series awards during their junior hardball cricket tournament, which was worked off at the President’s College ground in Rajagiriya. – NA
