Senior banker D.M. Gunasekara has been appointed as the new General Manager of Bank of Ceylon (BOC) with effect from January 8.

The change came on the same day long-standing BOC Chairman Gamini Wickremasinghe also stepped down.

According to the BOC, Mr. Gunasekara most recently served as the Deputy General Manager Retail Banking of BOC. He counts for 29 years of experience in banking sector including Corporate banking, International banking, Off-shore banking and most recently Retail banking prior to the appointment of the General Manager of BOC.

On his appointment, Mr. Gunasekara said that the “BOC is a bank that understands the diverse needs of the Sri Lankan people. While growing our island-wide banking services network, we have plans to expand our presence internationally. The technological advancement will result in simplifying banking transaction process for our customers.”
