Music fans yearning for variation in the local music industry will not be disappointed with Symphony Experiment X-rays. This rock n roll band who’ve been influenced by bands like Deep Purple, ACDC, Still Water, Air Bourne and Led Zeppelin, although just starting out, were adjuged winners in the band category at the inter university talent show (Tantalize 2012) .

Although it has only been a few months since they came under one name, the band members are veterans in their own genres of music, masters of their own fields- Charith with the drums, Niyo J with the bass, Heshan with the Rhythm guitar, Buddi with the keyboard, Mike with the lead guitar and Kanishka (vocals). Having been part of the line up at yesterday’s “Battle of the Bands: Redemption” the members met each other at “Earth Walk” and again at On Stage after which they decided enage in an experimental project.

With very few bands experimenting with rock ‘n’ roll they began calling themselves Symphony Experiment X-rays. Vocalist Kanishka, says “We all come from different musical backgrounds from metal to classics but we found a common ground in rock n roll. We love this music and now we are overall musicians, and not bound to one particular style of music.”

“We released our first original track “Rock machine” at Tantalize, which we have already recorded,” says Kani. “We are done with our second song, “Mandy” (“which has nothing to do with a girl”, adds Mike) and we are looking forward to doing a six track album which will be released in February.”
