An evening to unwind the Koluu way

It has become an annual event in Colombo’s social calendar and it’s always for a worthwhile charity – this time the Sunera Foundation. This year’s production by Koluu ‘Let’s Hear it For the Boys’ on October 19 at the Cinnamon Grand promises an evening to unwind, let one’s hair down and enjoy some fun-filled entertainment.

Sixteen performances make up the show. Koluu himself will perform to ‘Let’s hear it for the boys’, ‘Tell him, I am a good girl’, ‘Young Hearts’, and others. Then there’s his surprise guest whom he will interview and ask some daring questions.
Anushan De Silva who is choreographing most of the show and dancing himself with his troupe says this is one show he looks forward to as it is a lot of fun and lets him get out of the normal dance routine and do something crazy which gets his creative juices going. The songs and music chosen for the show varies from music from the 80’s to the very modern (the many younger people involved in performing ensuring contemporary music).

Lou Ching will play a blushing wannabe bride and also perform two other acts, whilst radio and TV host Danu will be dancing like a peacock and behaving like a naughty girl, Sathya will be dancing a pasa doble, whilst Dulee will be charming the crowd with his Arabian cabaret. Then there’s Moin going all Indian and the Spice Girls who wannabe. No Koluu show would be complete without Harendra nee Alice, Nimal and of course Ronny Leitch who is one of Koluu’s favourite performers. The other guest artiste the gorgeous Chula will be dancing with her troupe and Vanessa will be performing with her very talented son Sheam Dean.
Lou Ching who is in charge of executing the costumes every year is busy putting in the final touches and as Koluu rightfully says there is no one in Colombo who has an eye for creating costumes for this show as Lou Ching. Nayana Karunaratne and her team will be handling the hair and beauty part of the show. Mariza will be in charge of the production.

The show will be followed by a fabulous dinner laid out by Executive chef Sudhu and an after party will follow.
The sponsors of the event are Sifani Jewellers and Spa Ceylon. Tickets are available at Capello Salon, 7 Havelock Place, Colombo 5.
