T-shirts galore

It was the launch of a major tournament to be held in Sri Lanka. All the scribes had gathered at the launch. T-shirts featuring the major event was handed to all the scribes. To the surprise of all ‘Hoping Hell’ the lady who figured prominently at the launch was seen running after a certain scribe with six T-shirts dangling from her hands. These T-shirts were handed over to the scribe. It has also been noticed that this lady has been pampering this particular scribe scared of his slandering pen.

Not so well stacked
Gymnasiums are in demand these days. One such gym which was situated in Colombo has been shifted to a place in the hills. Those who were using this well equipped gym were certain executive types and their secretaries. These secretaries are now in fear that they might lose their well stacked figures because they cannot make use of this gym!

Rejected players in team
Two goalkeepers who were dropped from a national team were recalled to make a tour of Malaysia recently but the results were disastrous. The two goalkeepers concerned were earlier in the national team but were dropped due to poor form. Because there were no others to fill these gaps for the Malaysian tour the two were included. They let in so many goals and let the side down badly. The big question why were these rejected players recalled to the national team again? What are the coaches and the top officials doing if they can not find replacements?

Waiting for favourites
A well known sports organization is now in the process of picking coaches. National players who want to be coaches have attended these sessions. But those who are making the decisions have given these coaches far away places – such as Jaffna and Mulaitivu - when there are vacant posts in and around Colombo. The talk is that these players have been sent to these far away places because those who are making the decisions are waiting for their favourites to fill in the Colombo and suburbs posts.

Keeping things in order
The AGM of a well known sports body took place recently and a lady from the Ministry concerned conducted the proceedings. She however did not know the correct procedure to conduct the meeting and came in for scathing attacks from those present. We wonder why someone who did not know the rules was asked to conduct this all important meeting. In desperation the lady called in the Big Man in the sport to straighten things out.

Canvassing for votes
Talking about the same meeting it has been noted that a Vice President of a Youth body who was canvassing for votes has been using vehicles belonging to the youth organization in order to get the votes of 30 individuals.

The Lady Chaperone
Over to the Caribbean now. A player in a certain women’s team has been admitted to hospital and since there was no Lady Chaperone accompanying the team the Physio has been asked to be with this hospitalized player. Now who is going to do the Physio’s job? The lady who normally accompanies the team as the Lady Chaperone has been admitted to hospital as she is expecting a baby. Not wanting anyone else to be the Lady Chaperone on tour, she has skipped the tour quietly. If the news gets out that she cannot be the Lady Chaperone any longer because she fears that someone else will be given the job of the Lady Chaperone and she may be out of it forever.

Hide and seek
An athlete of yesteryear was elected as one of the vice presidents of a well known sports body. To all concerned she was elected purely on merit. However she let the cat out of the bag when in her address to those present she said that the Big Man in sports wanted her to be one of the vice presidents. Why these hide and seek games?

Manager carried
The Volcanoes erupted in glory as the Filipino beat the Island lads and be the team next year to scrum and tackle at the top. The celebration of winning two games was on the cards after the last match. The top was turning and the many shapes of the oval ball was seen as the boys carried home the man who was supposed to manage them.

Two numbers
It was funny to see the big selecting mouth running in his short shorts (jungi) taking water to the field. The man while bending in his efforts to bend backwards forgot about the rules of who could take water. At least he should have known that the team has to wear the correct numbers. The Man --a-- ger new to the game was clueless and the papers reported Meep a house as the scorer. The team was also sanctioned when two same numbers were seen on the field.

In front of Fonny
The story was that Jhonnie Batta was in front and Fonny was behind so you dare not turn back. It was the turn of the John of crate land spending lavishly for the boys to dine and enjoy the life at night la Filipino. This was a different volcano eruption. The way to go man please the siblings and feel your way when the there is no bread for the common man.
