Gateway College Colombo 4 (Bambalapitiya), which belongs to the premier International School network of Gateway Colleges, has recorded considerable success during a short period of time. The new International School that is conveniently located in a colonial style premises in Vajira Road, Bambalapitiya, was opened in January 2009.

During the short period of 3 years, Gateway College Colombo 4 has provided its students with a variety of activities to enhance and build up the total personalities of children studying here.
Dramatic productions, Singing & Oratorical Competitions, Literary and other clubs and a wide range of sports activities give children every opportunity to develop their talents. Children are encouraged to participate in these activities while at the same time attention is paid to their academic progress.
Discipline in school is stressed, while religious and social values play an important part in the daily life of a child. Children learn to respect each others beliefs and cultures. All religions are given equal emphasis on the school calendar and all religious festivals are celebrated. Social Service projects are also conducted from time to time and the children are taught to care for the less fortunate.
One project of importance carried out by the Gateway kids of Colombo 4 was an environment and recycling project. The children had ‘hands on experience’ cleaning up Galle Face Green and providing coloured bins along the promenade for the use of the public.
These activities will no doubt be a prelude to many more successful events by Gateway College, Colombo 4. Classes are now being conducted from Playgroup to Year 6 and will go up one grade each year, to provide education up to London Edexcel Examinations.
