IESL offers an opportunity for those aspiring to pursue a career in Engineering!

Registration of the second intake of students for the Engineering Certificate Stage 1, are open up to 21st December 2011. The Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL) which is the premier professional body for engineers in Sri Lanka has positioned itself as an important provider of engineering education in the country. The course in Engineering conducted by the IESL consists of three levels, Engineering Certificate, Engineering Diploma and Graduate Engineering Diploma. It is specially designed to facilitate lateral entry at the start of levels 1 and 2 and multiple exits, at the end of each level.

The Graduate Engineering Diploma is equivalent to engineering degrees conducted by the universities of Sri Lanka. A full complement of part time lecturers from the Engineering Faculties of the state universities and the industry delivers the modules of a most up to date curriculum that provides specialization in the areas of Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Communication and Computer Engineering at the Engineering Diploma and Graduate Engineering Diploma levels

The intake of students for the Engineering Certificate Stage 1 Course, due to commence in January 2012, is now underway. The medium of instruction is English. The course is conducted on Saturdays and Sundays at IESL Headquarters. Practical classes are conducted at the University of Moratuwa and Open University of Sri Lanka.

Entry requirements for the Engineering Certificate Stage 1
GCE (A/L) – Sri Lanka ( Old Syllabi – 04 Subjects / New Syllabi – 03 Subjects ) or London (A/L) (Maths Stream)
Diploma from the Irrigation Training Institute (ITI
Diploma in Technology – DT (OUSL)
Following Courses with two A/L passes (inclusive of Mathematics)
National Certificate in Engineering Draughtsmanship
National Certificate for Industrial Technicians (Civil / Electrical / Mechanical Engineering)
National Certification in Technology (Civil / Electrical & Electronic / Mechanical Engineering and Quantity Surveying )

Recognized by the Government of Sri Lanka, the IESL Engineering Course has become the much needed byway for aspiring students caught up in the higher education bottleneck of the country.
Those who satisfactorily complete the IESL Engineering Course are eligible to become Associate Members of the IESL and many who obtained this currently hold top positions in engineering fields, both in the public and private sector of the country

The structure of the course is as follows:
Certificate level
Engineering Certificate Stage 1 – One Year
Engineering Certificate Stage 2 – One Year
On successful completion of the Engineering Certificate Stage 1 and Stage 2 courses students are eligible to receive IESL Engineering Certificate.
Diploma Level
Engineering Diploma Stage 1 – One Year
Engineering Diploma Stage 2 – One Year
On successful completion of the Engineering Diploma Stage 1 and Stage 2 courses students are eligible to receive IESL Engineering Diploma
Graduate Diploma Level
Graduate Engineering Diploma – Duration approximately one and a half years.
The Graduate Engineering Diploma course consists of eleven subjects and a project. On successful completion of the Graduate Engineering Diploma Stage 1 and Stage 2 courses students will be awarded the IESL Graduate Engineering Diploma.
