Two murderers turned monks

Award winning teledrama director Chandana Hewapathirana’s newest teledrama ‘Jeewithaya Horu Arang’, a story of two criminals who have taken to robes is now being telecast every Saturday at 6.30 pm on Derana channel.

Starring Udara Ratnayake, Jagath Manuharana, Ananda Wickremage, Palitha Silva, Jayani Senanayake, Piumi Purasinghe, Bhagya Ratnayake, L. Dharshan, Priyantha Lalith and Mesha Ratnayake the teleplay is produced by Samanmalee Hewamanna.

Suresh and Aravinda are two jobless youths and work for a politician to make a living. As time goes on they become a part of all vices of the politician including political murders. They kill several persons for money and their lives are changed when they meet a young Samanera, a novice monk. They change their lives and become monks.

But the two youths are not able to continue in their new lives as devotees detest the two criminals-turned-monks. They give up robes and join ordinary secular life. How are their new lives to be spent? Would they be still accepted? Watch out for the last episode of ‘Jeewithaya Horu Arang’.

Director Chandana Hewapathirana has won acclaim for making quality teledrama and his ‘Hit Wicket’ won two awards and was nominated for eight at 2007 State Teledrama Festival. He also has written the screenplay for a number of teledramas including ‘Adbutha Laampuwa’ and one episode teleplays ‘Rankiri’, ‘Sellan Thuwakkuwa’ and ‘Seba Avuruddha’.
