Looking to add a touch of elegance to your home this season? Or still hunting for that unusual gift or some gift ideas for Christmas?

Check out Dwellings at Greenpath in Colombo which specialises in offering a diverse range of exciting household and gift items for the average housewife at affordable prices.

What makes this doubly attractive is that 75% of their products are locally manufactured. Their main objective is to promote the items made by tsunami affected communities and those from the Eastern Province, says the store’s Manager Mrs. R. Senanayake.

Among an array of household items, the attractive collection of rugs are truly remarkable and value for your money. This stylish, unusual collection of export quality rugs is a top seller at the moment as they have just been introduced to the market. Made out of pure leather and jute, these high quality rugs are in different shapes and colours.

Tired of mud, dust and dirt being trailed into your house? The solution is to place a boot wiper or a foot scraper by the door to remind visitors to wipe their shoes and slippers. The Dwellings boot wipers are made with a rubber bottom and two coir sides so that the sides of the shoes too get cleaned up and not merely the bottom. Featuring different animal forms such as duck, fish, turtle etc these coir foot scrapers are heavy and therefore can be used as doorstoppers as well.

For those who go for contemporary houseware items, Dwellings offers a range of cosy bean bag chairs. These bean bags can be adjusted in different positions for different purposes be it to sit and watch TV, to lay it on the floor to sleep, or to use as a stool etc. You can also get your bean bag, or the cosy ball chair, designed from Dwellings according to your choice of colour.

In addition to these, the Dwellings houseware collection includes locally made lamps and shades in vibrant colours and unusual designs, bedspreads, bridal bedspreads, bed sheets, pillow cases, cushion covers, table mats, coir products such as coir pots and coir creeper holders, kitchen ware, among a range of other items.

Catching the eye of shoppers at Dwellings this season were the classy Christmas cones displayed at Dwellings (featured on our cover). Brought down from China to decorate the store (alas not for sale), they are made of silver and gold painted wire and mesh.
