Peterites bite the Bambalapitiya dust

St. Peter’s chances of defeating St. Anthony’s on their home grounds at Bambalapitiya were dashed when the Antonians fought back bravely to down the Peterites 36 (3 goals, 3 tries) to 22 (1 goal, 3 tries) yesterday. St. Anthony’s led 14-7 at the breather.

The game turned into a scrappy affair but the Antonians were the better team in the second half with their forwards and outsides combining effectively.

Number 8 Ashan Uwais, winger U. Jayasekera, prop Sanka Rajaguru, center Amila Weligampola (2) and co-center Royston David scored the tries for the Katugastota lads and fly half B. Kumara made the conversions.

The Peterites with all the crowd support were at sea against the hardy Antonians, nevertheless they scored their tries through No 8 Shennelle Dias, center Dhanushka Ranjan, prop Steve Nelson and full back and skipper Dilshan Paul. Paul did the conversions for the Peterites as well.
