Gilly not in favour of Night-Tests

Adam Gilchrist has warned against the advent of day-night Tests after the International Cricket Council on Wednesday paved the way for a historic first game to be played under lights next year.

The ICC board met at Lord's, where it was mooted that a day-night Test match could be trialed next year "provided several factors were addressed". A statement from the governing body last night outlined some of those key factors, which include successful trials of the game in first-class cricket and the need to find an appropriate coloured ball for the game.

Gilchrist was playing in domestic cricket in Australia during the mid-1990s when night cricket was briefly trialed in the Sheffield Shield, using fluorescent orange balls.
