A girl between two worlds

Semi-autobiographical film, directed by Karin Albou is a tender look at adolescence that argues for the supremacy of passionate love over intellectual theory and religion.

In the suburbs of Paris there is a neighbourhood known as ‘Little Jerusalem’ because of its large population of Jews. Laura is 18, an Orthodox Jew. She is torn between the closed world of her religious upbringing and her studies in European philosophy, which offer a very different view of life.
‘Little Jerusalem’ is an engrossing film about Judaism, faith and sexuality.
