‘Photogenic’ places and faces of Lanka

Want to savour the beauty of Sri Lanka as seen through a foreigner’s eyes? Or rather, as captured through his camera? Malaysian Abraham Ling is holding an exhibition of the various photographs taken throughout the island on his trips to the country through the years, at the Lionel Wendt, this weekend.

All the black and white stills, which capture the essence of Sri Lanka were taken in normal lighting.
Ling who majored in photography in Australia and now works in Singapore says he loves working in Sri Lanka because it has many “photogenic places”. His favourite subject apparently are the people whom he says are friendly and obliging. “They have an old world look about them,” he smiles.

“The scenes and sense you get by looking at old books, you can still get in Sri Lanka.” The exhibition is on today at the Harold Peiris gallery of the Lionel Wendt from 10 a.m. till 5 p.m.
