Badrinath sees Chennai through

An unbeaten half century by in form batsman Subramanian Badrinath (59 not out) and a heady contribution of 48 by veteran Mathew Hayden saw the Chennai Super Kings coast to an easy seven wicket win of the Rajasthan Royals in their IPL tie at the De Beers Diamond Oval, Kimberly , yesterday.
In reply to Rajasthan score of 140 runs, they lost two wickets 37, but the match winning 3rd wicket stand of 89 runs between Hayden and Badrinath put the issue beyond doubt as the winners ran home with 1.4 overs to spare.

Earlier Sri Lankan ace spinner Muttiah Muralitharan led the Kings with figures of 2 for 24 in his allotted four overs to restrict the last year’s winners.

With this win the Super Kings moved to the top of the IPL table.

Rajasthan Royals 140 for 7 in 20 overs (Graeme Smith 30, S.A. Asnodkar 26, R. Jadeja 27, Shane Warne 21, Muttiah Muralitharan 2 for 24 and S.B. Jakati 2 for 35)

Chennai Super Kings 141 for 3 in 18.2 overs (Mathew Hayden 48, S. Badrinath 59 not out)
