Peace for all in President’s Easter message

In a message to mark Easter, the feast celebrated by Christians around the world, President Mahinda Rajapaksa said the day had a special significance for Sri Lanka’s Christians, as the country came closer to overcoming the forces of terror and bringing peace and understanding to all communities that call Sri Lanka home.

“The spirit of love that pervades Christian teaching should help create trust and understanding among our people,” the message said. “It should also extend to all other living beings that share this earth with us, as well as the gifts of nature on which all of us depend for a wholesome life.

“I wish all Christians of Sri Lanka a happy and peaceful Easter, enriched by the message of love strengthened by belief in the divinity of the Risen Christ,” President Rajapaksa said.
