Golden Key repayment plan by Feb 25

A new payment plan for Golden Key (GK) depositors –with the consent of the Attorney General - is to be finalized on Wednesday, February 25 after the inclusion of proposals by lawyers representing the depositors, AG’s Department sources told The Sunday Times FT.

Counsel appearing for Ceylinco Consolidated chairman Lalith Kotelawala on Thursday submitted a new set of proposals at a meeting at the AG’s office to discuss setting up the proposed trust, in accordance with the agreement reached by lawyers for the depositors and the management, along with the Deputy Solicitor General, Sarath Jayamanne at a previous court sitting.

On Thursday, the AG’s office and lawyers representing depositors were not satisfied with the repayment plan and modalities put forward by them to set up the trust. Therefore both parties have agreed to come up with a new plan next Wednesday, the sources said.

The case will be next heard on Thursday, February 26 in the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Mount Lavinia.
