Maris Stella cruise to their third win

Maris Stella cruised through to their third win of the ongoing Under 19 inter-school cricket season with a three wicket win over St Benedict’s concluded at Kadirana yesterday.

It were the Maris Stella opening bowlers Vimukthi Dassanayake and Dushmantha Chameera both right arm pacies who laid the foundation for their victory.

St Benedict’s 53 (Vimukthi Dassanayake 7 for 18, Dushmantha Chameera 3 for 18) and (41/4 o’night) 191 (Waruna Fernando 38, Suren Silva 28, Ashen Sirimanne 21, Sangaran Nandalal 74 n.o.: Ashen Silva 4 for 25, Dushmantha Chameera 4 for 55, Vimukthi Dassanayake 2 for 38)

Maris Stella 152 (Dishan Shanaka 60, Dananjaya Perera 20: Waruna Fernando 4 for 26, Dilshan Perera 2 for 21, Dilanka Aurwardt 2 for 40) and 96 for 7 (Shanuka de Silva 24, Aravinda Ratnayake 22: Suren Silva 4 for 19, Dilanka Aurwardt 3 for 49)
