Colts rout NCC to secure fifth win

Colts routed NCC in their own den by seven wickets in their Premier Tier ‘A’ inter-club cricket encounter concluded at the NCC ground yesterday to complete their fifth outright win of the season.

The second days was poised for an interesting finish after the fall of 21 wickets on the first day with the bowlers dominating the proceedings.

When Colts went in quest for victory with a 173 runs target they were in for a rude shock as NCC right arm pacie Akalanka Ganegama grabbed two early wickets as Colts lost three early wickets for just 10 runs.
However Dhanuka Pathirana who has been having a bad patch came to their rescue as he along with Rajeewa Weerasinghe put a match winning partnership of 140 runs for the fourth wicket to steer Colts. Dhanuka in the process cracked 104 from 118 balls which had 16 boundaries and a six.

Vandort and Ranaweera leads CCC fight back

Openers Michael Vandort and Daminda Ranaweera led CCC’s fight back with a two superb knocks of 71 and 72 helping them make a bold reply of 304 for 7 against Moors who made 386 from their overnight score of 382 for 7 at the end of the second days play in the match played at Braybrooke Place.

An unbeaten ton by Sajith Fernando enabled Tamil Union to post a score of 268 for 3 after SSC had made a mammoth 454 on day two of their match played at the SSC ground.
