Vidyartha thwart Kingswood

Match figures of 9 for 145 by Kingswood’s skipper and off-spinner Chalitha Dharmaperuma were not enough to secure an outright win over Vidyartha in their Under 19 match played at Peradaniya.
Batting again 66 runs in arrears, Vidyartha’s batsmen showed some staying power to thwart their opponents. Wickremasinghe, the top-scorer, made 50.

In addition to Dharmaperuma’s efforts, Hettige and Maduranga exceeded the fifty mark, while medium pacie Kumarasiri picked up six wickets.

Vidyartha 154 in 52.4 overs (T. Dissanayake 32, K. Wijekoon 28, L. Herath 23, R. Weerakoon 18; C. Dharmaperuma 6 for 58, C. Kumarasiri 3 for 36) and 178 in 78 overs (T. Dissanayake 38, V. Wickremasinghe 50, K. Wijekoon 29, C. Kumarasiri 6 for 54, C. Dharmaperuma 3 for 87)
Kingswood 220 for 9 in 61 overs (M. Maduranga 61, U. Hettige 53, C. Dharmaperuma 23, H.Dhrmaperuma 22, C. Kumarasiri 20; S. Daulagala 3 for 13, R.S. Weerakoon 2 for27) – A.K.
