‘Not Here to Be Loved’: A man in search of happiness

The critically-acclaimed French film ‘Not Here to Be Loved’ (Je ne suis pas là pour être aimé) by Stéphane Brizé, story about a middle aged man's search for happiness will be screened at 3 pm on Tuesday 19 and at 6.30 pm on Wednesday 20 at Alliance Francaise, Barnes Place, Colombo 7.

Jean-Claude is 51, divorced and tired. His life offers little in the form of excitement, between visiting his ill father and whiling away his free time, he works as a bailiff evicting those too poor to pay their rent. Looking for an escape from his hum-drum life, Jean-Claude enrols at the local dance school and begins to learn the tango.

Will his new hobby bring him the happiness he longs for or just more heartbreak?

Staring Patrick Chesnais and Anne Consigny the fim won CEC Award for Best Film - 2005 at San Sebastián International Film Festival and Special Prize of the Jury - 2006 Verona Love Screens Film Festival
