Thirty two years after Elvis

Thirty second death anniversary of legendry Elvis Presley will be commemorated on, Monday, August 18.
Each year his death anniversary is being commemorated by millions of his faithful fans around the world.

This year Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) in association with the local Elvis Presley Fan Club will be presenting a one hour programmme on Elvis and his songs from 3.00pm on August 18.
This programme, dedicated to this legendary singer, will be presented by that veteran TV and radio personality, Bevil Palihawadana, and Jayaratne Perera, the President of the Elvis Presley Fan Club in Sri Lanka. Elvis came in like a Pan American flash, and the impact of his arrival sent vibrations in every direction - the music scene buckled before him, for he changed it forever, setting it on a new course, which exists until today. He out-rocked, out-filmed, out-sold, and outraged more people than any other entertainer. This most-photographed person on earth, even after 32 years of his death, is still considered to be the 'Most Outstanding Figure in the Music Industry' and also, was voted as the ‘Artiste of the Century’ and still the biggest money earner compared to all dead entertainers according to the Forbs magazine.

Also, Elvis is the only singer elected into four Halls of Fame, namely, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Country Hall of Fame, Gospel Music Hall of Fame, and Grammy Hall of Fame.

Incidentally if you wish to know more about Elvis or wanting to join his fan club, you may write to Jayaratne at 772/7, Wijesinghe Mawatha, Madinnagoda Road, Rajagiriya. Phone. 2795997 or 0722-197970
