Nearly 1,000 passengers have been severely inconvenienced due to the failure to promptly repair a fault that occurred in the railway switching system near the Nattandiya Railway Station.

As a result, the Puttalam office train has been delayed at the Nattandiya Railway Station for nearly 30 minutes every day for more than a week.

According to reports, the issue arose after a component in the track used when shifting a train from the first track to the second track, had been damaged. Due to this fault, it is currently impossible for two trains to cross or switch tracks at this location.

The office train traveling from Puttalam to Colombo at 4.30 am has been stopping at the Nattandiya Railway Station for nearly 30 minutes for about a week because of this situation.

Passengers traveling on the train have strongly criticised the authorities, alleging that railway commuters are being inconvenienced because railway officials have failed to pay proper attention to repairing a fault that could have been fixed within a very short period of time, despite the issue persisting for over a week.
