Priyamal Perera struck a career-best 212 for Police SC to leave them in a strong position against Moors SC on day two in their Major League Super Eight match at Pallekele yesterday.

Resuming from their overnight score of 320-7, Perera and rest of their batting line up punished Moors bowlers as they put on a formidable total on board. He hit 25 boundaries and a six in his marathon knock helping them for 463 in their first innings. He was well supported by Supun Madushanka (65), Ashen Bandara (60) and Nalin Priyadarshana (57) with half centuries. In response, Moors SC were 130-4, still trail by 333 runs.

Fresh from his last week’s double century, Sri Lanka Test skipper Dhananjaya de Silva hit another half century as CCC reached 200-7 at stumps in response to Ace Capital’s first innings total of 331. Pavan Rathnayake also made 51 but Ace Capital bowlers — Wanuja Sahan (4/84) and Roshan Jayatissa (3/31) picked up wickets at regular intervals to leave CCC still needing 131 to avoid first innings defeat.

BRC reached 198-4 at stumps on day two after Angelo Mathews powered Colts to 463 in their first essay in their match at NCC grounds. Mathews, who has retired from Test cricket, made 144 while Dinesh Chandimal hit 67 helping Colts to a formidable score.
