Jaffna College defeated St. Patrick’s College by 37 runs in their annual Limited Overs big match played at the college ground in Vaddukoddai yesterday. Electing to bat first, Jaffna College posted 205 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in a slow-paced game where Sasikaran Ashmin emerged as the top scorer. He faced 60 deliveries and hit four boundaries, as Uthajaraja Kenreksan made a 51-ball 38 with two fours before being run out.
Chasing 206 for victory, St. Patrick’s never were on the hunt as they lost wickets at regular intervals and eventually fell apart at 168 runs when they still had plenty of overs and time left. Robinson Bearly was the player to stand out with a 64-ball knock of 37 with three fours, while others failed to impress or put up a fight.
