The asphalt of the court crackled with high-octane energy last weekend as the St. Peter’s College Basketball Foundation, in a landmark collaboration with Red Bull, hosted the inaugural ‘Red Bull 3×3 Game Wars 2026’. From the fast-paced collegiate matches to the high-stakes corporate showdowns, the ‘Game Wars’ lived up to its name.

The tournament, which drew a massive crowd of enthusiasts and sports personalities, has officially established itself as the new gold standard for 3×3 basketball in the island. The event achieved its primary mission: uniting the nation’s most elite ballers from universities, colleges, academies, and the corporate sector in a high-speed competition.

It was also the official launch pad for the rebranding of St. Peter’s College basketball.

Speaking at the ceremony, Rev. Fr. Rohitha Rodrigo, Rector of St. Peter’s College, and Rev. Fr. Thusitha, the Sports Coordinator, emphasised the college’s commitment to uplifting local standards and providing a professional platform for the next generation of athletes.

A highlight of the tournament was the partnership with global brand Red Bull. Having observed the professional execution and the sheer calibre of talent on display, Red Bull representatives have pledged a long-term collaboration. The vision is to make ‘Game Wars Sri Lanka’ a premier local league, running parallel to the world famous Red Bull Half Court Series.

The organisers announced that this will be an annual event, with plans already in motion to make next year’s tournament significantly larger. In a move to place Sri Lanka firmly on the international 3×3 map, the Foundation revealed that for ‘Game Wars 2027’, they intend to invite participation from the Maldives, Dubai, India, and Thailand, giving local players the chance to test their mettle against international talent on home soil.
