HelpAge provides free training for care-givers
View(s):HelpAge Sri Lanka (HASL) recently expanded its services by recruiting new male and female care giving attendants to provide free training to look after needy geriatric patients in Sri Lanka.
Accordingly HASL invites interested males and females who are less than 60 years to join this important free elderly care training programme, conducted by HASL Home Care Division.
HASL says there is a great demand for trained persons who could look after geriatric patients.
“Considering this we expanded this service for the benefit of both care attendants as well as elderly citizens those who live lonely in their homes,” HASL Executive Director Dr Harsha Bandara said.
Quoting the World Health Organization (WHO), Executive Director Bandara said geriatric patients suffer from various age- related health issues and chronic conditions.
HASL, Head of Home Care Asela Fernando highlighted the services of care-giving attendants and said their services are immensely needed to attend the poor health conditions of geriatric patients who have done immense service to the country in a dignified, secure, active and healthy manner.
In addition, HelpAge conducts free cataract surgeries for needy elders every day at HelpAge Eye Hospital in Wellawatta, Colombo 6.
