Unbeaten SSC continued to torment their opponents and put themselves in line to record a sixth successive outright victory when play ended on day two of their SLC Major Club Tier ‘B’ 3-day Cricket Tournament match against Malay CC at Narahenpita yesterday. Resuming the second day on their overnight score of 272-7, SSC went on to post 357-9 declared, with Nipun Dhananjaya top-scoring a fine 122.

In reply, Malay CC succumbed to the bowling trio of Prabath Jayasuriya, Pramod Madushan and Nipun Dhananjaya, and were dismissed for just 120. Enforced to follow on and facing the daunting task of wiping out a deficit of 237 runs, Malay CC ended the day on 18-1, still requiring a further 219 runs to avoid an innings defeat.

Meanwhile, Negombo CC held the upper hand against Leo CC at the close of the second day in their match played at Katunayake. All matches will continue today.
