Moors in command after Sohan’s century
Moors Sports Club produced a commanding batting performance to amass 441-8 declared before reducing Kurunegala Youth Cricket Club to 134-4 at stumps on the second day of their SLC Major Club 3-day Cricket Tournament match played at Sooriyawewa on Saturday. Moors’ innings was highlighted by a splendid century from Sohan de Livera (139) and three half-centuries from Sithara Gimhan (76), Ramesh Mendis (65) and Shehan Fernando (51), as they took the Kurunegala Youth bowlers apart. In reply, Kurunegala Youth reached 134-4, still trailing by 307 runs at the close.
In the match between CCC and Panadura SC at Galle, Pavan Ratnayake struck his second century within a week, compiling a magnificent 166 to help his side post 309. Dushan Vimukthi was the standout bowler for Panadura SC, claiming impressive figures of 7 for 87. In reply, Panadura SC responded positively to reach 217-5 at stumps.
At P. Sara Oval, Police SC replied strongly to Bloomfield’s first innings total of 192, with Avishka Tharindu producing a fine century to guide his side to 284. Only 41 overs were possible on the second day of the match between Nugegoda Sports and Welfare Club and Colts after the opening day was completely washed out due to rain. All matches will continue today.
