Rising star Luqman Aslam declared his arrival on the national stage by securing his first national medal, finishing third in the 1500m Freestyle event, while Lakindu Paul and Senuka Bometh made valuable contributions to the overall points tally. The quartet of Tharuka Salgado, Senuka Bometh, Luqman Aslam, and Lakindu Paul also impressed in the 4×100m Freestyle Relay, finishing second, further strengthening the team’s podium finish.

“Missing the runners-up position by just two points was tough, but I am extremely proud of these boys. Four swimmers carrying a school to the podium at a national championship speaks volumes about their commitment and discipline,” reflecting on the performance, Head Coach Ramesh Essekkimuththu said.

“This is one of the strongest results D.S. Senanayake College has produced in over a decade in swimming. More importantly, it shows we are building a sustainable programme, not just short-term success,” he added.

The achievement marks the second time the school has finished as second runners-up at national level, reaffirming its steady progress in Sri Lankan school swimming.
