Ceylon Haurmet (Pvt) Ltd recently opened of its fully integrated canned beverage production facility in Pannala. The plant, with the latest technology, spans across 12,000 sq. ft. and strategically positions the company among competitive international markets. This marks a significant step in advancing Sri Lanka’s food and beverage industry, placing the facility among the few integrated canned beverage manufacturing operations in the country that offer both nitrogenation and carbonation technologies. The company, in a media release, also announced the launch of Mooji, Sri Lanka’s first alcohol-free canned mojito range, available in the market starting December 2025.
The company’s portfolio includes coconut-based foods, fruit beverages, spices, plant-based solutions and an expanding range of ready-to-drink innovations.
The new manufacturing facility is expected to strengthen Sri Lanka’s domestic supply and expand its capacity to compete in export-driven beverage markets. With global demand for convenient ready-to-drink products continuing to rise, it offers local producers a pathway into higher-value segments that demand consistent processing standards and advanced production methods. The facility is positioned to support long-term national manufacturing priorities by expanding the technical capabilities available within Sri Lanka’s food and beverage sector.
Chairman and Director of Ceylon Haurmet (Pvt) Ltd – Ruwan Nishantha, noted that the opening of the plant marks a significant milestone for both the company and the country. He observed that the establishment of this facility underscores the strong potential within Sri Lanka’s industrial sector and demonstrates the nation’s capability to develop and operate manufacturing environments that align with international production standards.
CEO/Director – Sanjaya Dissanayake said: “We aim to develop products that meet global expectations while retaining the value of being produced locally. This manufacturing plant gives us the platform to expand responsibly, introduce new categories and strengthen our position in international markets.”
The Pannala facility is part of Ceylon Haurmet’s Phase 1 expansion strategy and is geared for export-ready manufacturing. With the launch of ‘Mooji’ and the addition of new processing capabilities, the company enters a new stage of growth that contributes to Sri Lanka’s evolving manufacturing landscape and reinforces the country’s potential in high-value production.
