In a fitting international tribute to Sri Lankan cinema’s golden era, world renowned 47th ‘Three Continents Festival’ at Nantes in France will showcase a collection of films at the festival from November 21 to 29.

The Retrospective titled ‘On the Roads of the Golden Age of Sri Lankan Cinema’ is to explore a fine blend of Sri Lankan cinema starting from country’s pioneer filmmaker Dr. Lester James Peries, who changed the destiny of Sri Lankan cinema with his debut ‘Rekava’ (‘Line of Destiny’) and Dr. Dharmasena Pathiraja who launched the ‘second revolution’ of country’s cinema and initiated a rebellious journey to present day filmmakers like Prasanna Vithanage.

The retrospective giving much needed international attention to lesser known gems of Sri Lankan cinema supported by the French Embassy in Sri Lanka.

It is also the result of a collaboration with the National Film Corporation (NFC) and the Sri Lanka National Archives (SLNA), as an extension of the France-India-Sri Lanka Cine Heritage (FISCH) project, coinciding with the restoration of Sumitra Peries’ masterpiece, ‘Gehenu Lamai’
