View(s):
Jennifer Coonghe, a Sri Lankan student in Italy brought pride to her community by graduating from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Siena, with the highest possible distinction.
Daughter of Dilhani Warnakula and Dushan Coonghe, Jennifer was born in Verona, Italy, and completed her Advanced Level education in the Science/Mathematics stream there, before entering medical school in Siena for a six-year medical degree programme.
During the programme, Jennifer was awarded scholarships on merit which enabled her to pursue one year in Spain and another in Austria. These opportunities also required her to complete language qualifications, and she obtained certifications in English, Spanish and German, in addition to her academic commitments.
On September 26, she completed her studies with a first-class honours degree, securing the maximum score of 110/110, an achievement regarded as rare even among Italian students.
