Elite Taekwondo Club clinches four gold medals at Thailand International Open
View(s):Elite Taekwondo Club, Sri Lanka achieved a remarkable feat at the prestigious Thailand International Open Taekwondo Championship 2025, held in Bangkok from recently. The event drew over 1,500 athletes from 26 countries, showcasing elite talent from across the globe.
Demonstrating exceptional skill and determination, Elite Taekwondo athletes brought home a total of four gold, three silver, and three bronze medals, marking a proud moment for Sri Lanka on the international martial arts stage.
Sehath Rodrigo impressed with two gold medals and a bronze, dominating in his respective category. Mihindu Rajarathne also delivered a stellar performance, securing two gold medals.
Randini Vihansa displayed commendable resilience, winning a silver and two bronze medals. Thunuhi Alwis, the youngest member of the team, earned two silver medals, underlining the club’s strong future and bringing pride to the nation.
The Elite Taekwondo Club is led by Master Asitha Wickramatunga, a fifth Dan International Black Belt (Korea), National Referee, and Technical Committee Member of the Sri Lanka Taekwondo Federation. He was assisted by Master Asanga Wickramatunga, contributing to the team’s preparation and success.
This victory is even more special as the club marks its 20th anniversary this year — two decades of discipline, dedication, and consistent excellence in martial arts training. As the athletes returned home with their hard-earned medals, they not only celebrated personal achievements but also continued to uplift Sri Lanka’s name in the international taekwondo community.
