Moratuwa SC dominate day one
Moratuwa SC took firm control on the opening day of their Under 23 Emerging Club Tournament fixture against Sebastianites C&AC at the De Zoysa Stadium, Moratuwa.
Batting first, Moratuwa SC posted 177, thanks largely to a fine knock of 73 by Abishek Liyanaarachchi, well supported by Malitha Perera (30), Amitha Dabare (22), and Maneendra Jayatileke (20). Anuk Dewanarayana was the pick of the bowlers for Sebastianites, claiming 6 for 54, while Nuwan Dineth chipped in with 3 for 33.
In reply, Sebastianites C&AC faltered against disciplined bowling, finishing the day precariously placed at 110 for 8. Senesh Hettiarachchi (25), Lashmika Perera (24n.o.), Kavindu Gayathra (20), and Akash Fernando (17) offered brief resistance. For Moratuwa SC, Lasen Gunaratne (3 for 23) and Ushan Sathsara (3 for 34) did the bulk of the damage.
