Ovini Ratnapala, a 10-year-old promising table tennis player from Lyceum International Schoo, Gampaha, is making strides as a future star. She emerged as the runner-up in the Under-11 Girl’s category at the All-Island Novices Table Tennis Chapionship held at the Municipal Council Indoor Stadium in Kegalle.

Young Ovini impressed with her fine style of play with good and accurate shots in her maiden appearance at a competitive table tennis tournament. She produced all the short in the books such as the smash, topspin and valid services proving that she possesses natural talent at a very young age.

The tournament was conducted by the Umpires’ Committee of the Table Tennis Association of Sri Lanka, as Ovini grabbed the opportunity with both hands to come out with an impressive show, under the guidance of her coach Lalith Perera. She is well supported by the Director of Lyceum Gampaha, Dilmi Ratnayake, Head of Sports Tharaka Tennakoon and the Principal Thilanka Karunaratne.
