SC Justice Samayawardhena appointed as JSC member

Supreme Court Justice Mahinda Samayawardhena has been appointed as a member of the Judicial Service Commission.
The appointment was made by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake with the approval of the Constitutional Council.
Justice Samayawardhena has served on the Bench for 37 years so far after joining the judiciary in 1988. He rose through the ranks of the judicial hierarchy, serving as a Primary Court Judge, Magistrate, District Judge, High Court Judge, and Judge of the Court of Appeal, before being elevated to the Supreme Court in 2020. As a High Court Judge, he served in all three branches: the Criminal High Court, the Commercial High Court, and the Civil Appellate High Court.
He is the current Director of the Sri Lanka Judges’ Institute.
