SingaCup expands to Sri Lanka
View(s):A transformative new chapter in youth football and sports tourism has begun with the successful launch of the SingaCup Football Experience in Dambulla, Sri Lanka. This milestone initiative is the result of a strategic collaboration between Lanka Sportreizen, Sri Lanka’s premier sports tourism and adventure travel company, and Dynamique Konzepts of Singapore—the exclusive organisers of SingaCup, Asia’s premier international youth football tournament, the local company said in a media release.
The inaugural SingaCup Football Experience in Sri Lanka, held recently in Dambulla, brought together 100 schoolchildren from Pohoranwewa Junior School, Theladinnath Wewa Junior School, and Rathmalgahaela Junior School for a professional football training session. Attended by coaches, families, and community members, the event not only inspired young athletes but also underscored the power of sport as a catalyst for development, cultural exchange, and tourism. Building on this momentum, Sri Lanka will host its first-ever SingaCup-affiliated series in September 2025, spotlighting the Under-12 age category.

The SingaCup-affiliated series is more than just a football tournament—it is an open invitation to the world to experience Sri Lanka through the lens of this beautiful game. It is where sport meets culture, and where young talents take their first steps toward global friendship and opportunity.
This launch marks the beginning of a long-term sports tourism initiative. Plans are already in motion for an expanded edition in 2026 and annual tournaments thereafter. The collaboration aims to position Sri Lanka as a leading destination for youth sports, fostering community upliftment and promoting cross-border connections through the universal language of football, the release said.
“This SingaCup-affiliated series is more than just a football tournament—it is our invitation to the world to discover Sri Lanka through this beautiful game. We are building a legacy of hope, opportunity, and unity,” said Thilak Weerasinghe, Chairman of Lanka Sportreizen, and Selvakumar Panneerselvam, Managing Director of Dynamique Konzepts, in a joint statement.
