Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has secured the expertise of renowned power-hitting coach Julian Wood to deliver an intensive training programme designed to elevate the striking capabilities of the country’s premier cricketers. The comprehensive seven-day programme, scheduled from July 30 to August 5, will focus on developing explosive batting techniques among both male and female national squad members. Wood will collaborate directly with Sri Lanka’s coaching staff to refine players’ power-hitting fundamentals and tactical approach.

As the architect behind the acclaimed ‘Power Hitting Programme’, Wood employs a sophisticated blend of traditional cricket methodology, advanced biomechanical analysis, and specialized conditioning protocols to maximise batting power output. His proven system has transformed players’ ability to clear boundaries and accelerate run-scoring.

Wood brings extensive international experience, having previously enhanced batting units for the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), county teams including Gloucestershire, Hampshire, and Middlesex, as well as IPL powerhouse Punjab Kings. This strategic investment in specialised coaching forms a crucial component of Sri Lanka’s comprehensive preparation strategy for upcoming major tournaments, including the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, Asia Cup, and additional international series commitments.
