Four world class cueists in action today
A snooker exhibition series featuring four international stars will take place today at Shangri-La Hotel in Colombo as Kingsman Snooker hosts the ‘Cues and Brews’ snooker exhibition.
Organised by Kingsman Sports Group, the event will feature exhibition matches and fan interactions with four top snooker players — current World No.3 and four-time World Champion Mark Selby, Jack Lisowski, known for his aggressive playing style, long-serving professional Joe Perry, and former World Champion Ken Doherty.
‘Cues and Brews’ marks the first event of its kind in Sri Lanka, aiming to position the country as a future destination for international snooker while promoting the sport locally.

Irene Sriharan, founder and CEO of Kingsman Sports Group, told the Sunday Times that sports hospitality remains a largely untapped space in Sri Lanka.
“We have such sporting talent in this country, and any potential that is untapped is a tragedy to me. I want to open doors and give kids the opportunities that I’ve had.”
Selby is expected to take on Lisowski in one of the key matchups of the day. “We hope to have a good time and put on a good show,” he said.
Among the local participants is Oshan Fernando, a recent snooker champion at the SSC, who said, “There is a huge gap in the standard of play because professionals like them train and compete full-time, while in Sri Lanka most players pursue it part time. But seeing them play shows us that getting to that level is possible.”
