Former Solicitor General Jinasena to be appointed as Justice Ministry secretary

Former Solicitor General Ayesha Jinasena, PC is tipped to be appointed as the Secretary to the Ministry of Justice, the Sunday Times learns.
Ms Jinasena who served in the Attorney General’s Department for over 30 years was previously recommended to the Supreme Court.
However in April this year the Supreme Court issued an interim stay order on the President and the Constitutional Council, preventing them from nominating judges to the Supreme Court, except as Chief Justice.
Senior Additional Solicitor General Viraj Dayaratna, PC is to be appointed as the new Solicitor General.
Meanwhile the Constitutional Council has received 17 applications for the Director General’s post in the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).
