Former Presidential Secretary passes away
View(s):Former senior administrative officer and an ex-Presidential Secretary K.H.J. Wijayadasa passed away on Thursday. A private funeral ceremony was held on the same day, according to his wishes.
Mr. Wijayadasa who was born at Gangodawila, had his primary education at Gangodawila B.T.S School and later obtained education from Dharmapala Vidyalaya Pannipitiya. He entered the Peradeniya University and obtained a special degree in geography.
The late administrative officer joined the state service in 1960, and served as the Secretary to the Prime Minister from 1983 to 1988 and President’s Secretary from 1989 to 1994.
Mr Wijayadasa who served under late President Ranasinghe Premadasa was renowned for his service to the country during his career as one of the top administrative officials.
After retirement from state service he contributed his time and energy to conserve and preserve Buddhist shrines and temples.
